40 weeks!

My last weekly post of my pregnancy. 40 Weeks was Sunday September 18th, 2011. It was my "due date" however I was already home from the hospital and loving on my new little man.

Will weighed 8.8lbs and was 21.5 inches long.  It's funny that he is upset in this photo....he is NEVER upset. Even when he is hungry he really doesn't get upset.

39 Weeks!  (September 11, 2011)

**Disclaimer....this was the morning of Sunday Sept 11th before we went to church. Little did I know that my water would break that night while I was at Zachary's choir practice at church.  Because nothing was comfortable to wear I put this black maxi dress back on before taking him to choir. This was the outfit I was wearing when my water broke on the commons floor.  That's another story in itself!
 My last full pregnancy picture!
Will is approximately 7.5-8.0 lbs measuring 19-20 inches long. He is considered full term! The vegetable of the week is a 8lb watermelon however I was not going to buy an 8lb watermelon...nor do I think I could find one.  So we used the little bear with "Will's Pappy's Dream Team T-shirt".

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I haven't been good about updating this part of the blog. Total weight gain for this pregnancy was 36 lbs.  Much more than I wanted to gain but it sure was fun eating whatever I wanted. LOL!

Maternity Clothes: Besides shirts and dresses...all I wear is maternity clothes. I'm about to start going naked...I can't stand to have things touching my big ole belly! My sister makes fun of me but as soon as I know I am going to be home for the day or night I take off all my clothes and put on an over-sized night gown. She calls it my MuMu. She came to my house one day at like 1 in the afternoon and I greeted her at the door in it. She about died!

Gender: He's a BOY! We have officially named him William Collins and we are going to call him Will. He is named after some very special relatives and friends...which I love that he will have role models to look up to!

Movement: Baby Austin is slowing down...I still feel him but it's almost like he is in slow motion. He's out of space.

What I miss: Being 36 lbs lighter! I am exhausted. I have started to snore which I have never done in my life time. I get tired easily.

Cravings: Desserts, Chocolate, and Candy....not a good craving to have. Especially when Kevin is trying to watch what he eats.

Symptoms: Well, as I end this journey of pregnancy I can honestly say that my body has had enough. However now that I have an induction date for Friday September 16th, 2011 all of my symptoms are subsiding. I am not having contractions or anything of the sorts.

He's Here!

As most of you know William Collins has arrived! He arrived on 9/12 at 2:35 a.m. weighing 8lbs 8 oz and 21.5 inches long. He has a ton of black hair.

A very sweet friend who happens to be our "family photographer" stopped by the hospital to visit us when Will was less than 12 hours old.  I had no idea she had her camera and was planning on taking some photos of us.  It was a sweet surprise. Thankfully I had just happened to hop out of the shower.  Our hospital room was total choas but she made it look super peaceful and serene.  Thank you Kara for taking these photos for us.  Photos are property of Owens Photography.

I have not been motivated to get on the computer and blog....Too busy loving on my two boys.  Anyways, I am hoping to get a bunch of photos on here this week.  Thanks for all the prayers for our little bundle of joy!

38 weeks!

38 weeks
Will is approximately 7-7.5 lbs measuring 19-20 inches long. He is considered full term!  The vegetable of  the week is a 7lb pumpkin however none of the local stores or roadside stands have their pumpkins out for fall yet.  So I had to adlib with one of our decorative fall pumpkins.  Z thought this was cool!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I haven't been good about updating this part of the blog. When I was pregnant with Z I gained 33 lbs.  I always thought when I would be pregnant with #2 I would be one of those people who practiced self-control and would gain a modest 20 lbs with their second. Well that was not me! Instead I have gained 34-35 lbs thus far.  It's so bad. My mind talks me into eating more dessert, more candy, or food.  I know this will be my "last" time to enduldge in whatever so I have.  I keep telling myself I am going to regret this when I have to get my bum on the treadmill but for now I will continue to treat myself to ice cream, chocolate, candy, dessert, etc.

What I miss: Being 34 lbs lighter!

I am having recurrent UTI's, still on antibiotics for those.  Then I am contracting all the time, having false labor issues, and then this week I had some bleeding.  Scared me to pieces.  Come to find out it was nothing but it caused me to spend an entire day at Labor & Delivery for observation and then that afternoon I had my regular OB appointment. LONG DAY!

On Monday, I saw my OB for my weekly appointment. I'm still 3cm, 60% effaced and measuring 42 weeks. She said Will could come anytime on his own but she would not induce me until my 39th week.  Actually she set the induction date for my original due date which is exactly the start of my 40 week. Next Friday Sept. 16th.... I can't lie I was a bit bummed. I thought I would at least get to be induced a week early but it's okay.  It's just 6 more days.

Exciting things this week: We are ready! Nursery is done! Carseats are in our vehicles! Bags are loaded in my van!  I am pre-registered! Epidural video at hospital has been watched and signed off on!  Cameras are charged!  Now we are just hanging out waiting on Will!

Will's Nursery Reveal

So we are FINALLY done with Will's nursery. It's funny because my mom and I got started on some small projects for it back when I was around 22 weeks.  I thought the room was going to be ready WAY before now but due to some delays it is finally done.  Back in February/March when I was so sick I spent a lot of time picking out boy nursery colors and girl nursery colors/themes.  It was something to pass the time.  The #1 thing I wanted was a painted piece of furniture. It's funny because with my first I wanted everything to match, be brand new, and go together. This time I was the exact opposite. A girlfriends sister-in-law had a lime green piece of furniture for her sons nursery and I fell in love with it. i also got this idea that whenever we got new furniture for the boys rooms (5+ years down the road) I could use this colored piece of furniture in a craft room. So my mom and I went to KC (after the morning sickness) to scope out painted pieces of furniture (mind you we did not know if it was a boy or girl).  We found a few places that had what I wanted however none of them were the color that I had in my head plus they were outrageously expensive.  I got this idea that I could "find" a used piece of furniture, refinish it (I had no idea how this was done), and do it the color I wanted.  I honestly think my mom thought I was nuts. I would hit garage sales, flea markets, look on cr.aigs.list., etc. I could not find ANYTHING. Then one day a girlfriend of mine who lives 1 street away posted on FB that she was having a garage sale and had a dining room hutch for sale $50.  I contacted her about it mainly to see if she could text me a picture and if it was all wood. Low and behold it was exactly what I wanted.  My husband was very hesitate. He thought it would just be easier to go to the baby store and buy all the "matchy" stuff. I just kept reminding him that this was going to be our "last" baby nursery and I wanted to do it my way. Can you tell I am a very stubborn person? Long story, shortened....we bought the hutch. Took it downtown to a furniture place that refinishes pieces.  I explained what I was thinking about 100 times. We had some delays but finally got the piece back and started on the nursery. Here's the process in pictures....

Here's the all wood hutch I purchased from a girlfriend for $50.  What a deal! Before....
After....
Another thing I wanted to do was a Wall of W's.  I love initials/monograms and thought this would be perfect. I shopped a local craft store when the letters were all 50% off.  Zachary and I purchased every W we would find. He thought he was on a a scavenger hunt...oh wait we did purchase one Z for him.
Before....
Zachary & I spent one afternoon painting all the W's and you can see his Z he painted.
After...Will's W wall
I had seen in a magazine...this is before I became aquainted with pinterest where you could make huge pom pom balls for baby showers, weddings, etc.  I got a grand idea that I wanted them in a nursery.  So when my mom came over for a 12 hour craft project day we made pom poms.  Kevin gave us some strange looks and had no idea what I was going to do with them but in the end I think he likes them :)
We hung the finished pom poms in my basement bath for about 12 weeks until we finally got them up last week.
Pom Poms up in nursery: There are several you.tube videos and tutorials online about how to make these. They really would be cute for a birthday party or shower.

Our next "project" was a wall vinyl.  You can find all kinds of vinyls these days.  I found Will's on etsy.  Basically you can design your own with custom name, colors, and design for around $25-40.  Ours took about 3 weeks to get in the mail.  They are great to use because they are removable. The worst part is getting them up.  Thankfully, Kevin is a detail oriented person.  So we spent one Friday evening putting it up.  He got out the laser level and started applying the "sticker".

The things this guy will do to make his pregnant wife happy!  I forgot to mention this vinyl was in at least 8 different pieces.

Great Job Daddy!  I must add...Zachary thinks he is the hanging monkey on the bottom. Will is the little one on top :)
And the nursery reveal....

Changing table..I'm planning on putting frames on this wall with Will's hand prints, footprints, and newborn photos.
Being that he is the fourth boy in our family he has a full closet.  These are all of his clothes from birth to 12 months.  I think we are set!  Now if we could just get Will to come out :)
You might remember this post about 6 months ago.....about Will's Life Verse  well I wanted to have Life Verse this displayed immediately as you walk into his room however I wasn't sure if I was going to have a poster made, ordered, or if I was going to paint something.  Then I decided I would use my editing software on my computer and make him the poster myself. Within 20 minutes I had it done, sent to a local store for photo/poster printing and that was it.  I popped it in a frame and now it's on display.  I must add that when we "picked" this verse for our baby we had no idea if it was a boy or girl.  We also did not have any names picked out for a boy.  As I was making this poster I realized that Will's life verse uses the term WARRIOR.  It immediately clicked that God knew that he was a boy, that his name was going to be Will, and that this verse was made for him.  The name William/Will means "Strong-Willed Warrior".  I love when you can see God's plan in things.

It shouldn't be long now. We are just waiting for our precious little Will.  Less than a week!

1st day of Pre-K

Monday August 29th was a much anticipated day for Zachary.  You see all of his friends are starting Kindergarten...including his best friend/cousin Elliott.  This has just about killed Z.  He does not understand why he could not start Kindergarten too.  After a lot of discussion and explaination he still does not get it.  So we explained that he got to go to PRE-KINDERGARTEN.  Some how that worked. So here he is on his first day of Pre-K!
Our little man is so excited!  A couple funny things about Z starting Pre-K.  We have used the same backpack for the past 3 years at preschool. It is solid blue with his name embroidered on it.  It's perfect with a matching lunch box.  However Z informed me last week that it is not COOL. Where do they get this stuff!  He told me that all the other kids have fun, character lunchboxes and backpacks. Really?  After talking with Kevin one night Kevin asked me to remember back to when I was in school.  He asked me if I would have rathered a Cabbage Patch backpack or a solid pink backpack with my name on it?  To be honest I would have loved to have a backpack with my name on it because nothing ever had my name on it. But I got the point.  So the next day I took Z to the store to pick his "COOL" backpack. I can't believe at almost 5 we are already into the "cool thing".  Anyways, he picked Green.Lantern stuff.  Whoever that is?  He was thrilled.
 Mommy & Zachary (and Will)
This was so sweet. As we were taking pics Z just leaned over (all by himself) and put his head on my belly.  It melted my overly emotional pregnant heart.  After this moment we discussed that next year when he was going to 'real' Kindergarten that Will would be standing up there with us.  It's hard to believe!
 The "COOL" backpack!
As Z starts school I just pray that he clings tight to his life verse Proverbs 3: 5-8.

Fufilling a promise...

All summer long Zachary has asked if we could go to a local paint pottery place and paint a skull. Yes you read that right a pirate skull. Not a cute doggie, cupcake, or star...a pirate skull. Everytime he would ask if we could go we had other plans. He quickly reminded me 2 days before his school started that we never got to go. How do kids remember this stuff. So I cleared our calendar that day and took him to the paint place. He was so excited!

Concentrating!

Ok, mom I'll pose!

Painting his masterpiece in a total of 7 minutes!

Here is his pirate skull prior to being fired.  We go on Wednesday to pick up the final piece.  I can't tell you how many times I have been asked, "Is my skull done yet?", " Is it Wednesday?", "Can we go get my skull?"
I appreciate these times with Z more and more knowing that his baby bro will be here any day.  Just me and my Z.

Z & C's last playdate before they become Big Bro & Big Sis

Like I mentioned in my previous post, Mel & I got the kids together last Tuesday for a lunch date and play date at our house. At the time we did not know it would be the last time before Charley became a big sister but I am SO glad we did this.  Mel & I got to chat, catch up, and discuss our fears of becoming a mom of two.  Meanwhile the kiddos played in Z's room, watched a  movie, and goofed off.
When we go to Mel's house Z plays dress up in all of Charley's princess gear. Kevin is not a big fan of Z in Snow White dresses or Cinderella but the kids love it.  This time it was Charley's turn to put on all of Z's super hero costumes.  It was hilarious! Here's C as The Flash.
 Darth & the Flash
The kiddos are 3 months apart and have been together since Zachary was born.  Can't wait to see how our next set of children do together.  This time they will be less than 3 weeks apart.  What a blessing!

My best friends baby....

Last week Mel & I got together with Zachary & Charley to have lunch and a playdate.  We took this little picture on my phone when Kevin was home for lunch. Not knowing that it would be our last preggo picture together. Mel has been in pre-term labor for the past 6 weeks.  Every night I sleep with my phone and wait for her calls or text.
With that being said, that Friday night when I spoke to Mel before we went to bed she said that nothing was going on with the baby and that she was done anticipating his/her arrival. She was just going to be induced on Monday (the 29th) and that was it.  After talking with her I put my phone on the charger in the kitchen and turned it to silent.  BIG MISTAKE.  Kev & I went to bed. I can honestly say it was the BEST sleep I have had this entire pregancy. I was dead to the world. So much so that when Kevin left for KC and Z woke up neither one of them could get me awake. I felt like I had been drugged.  When I finally got out of bed my cell phone was vibrating on the counter. It was Mel. I almost didn't answer it because I needed some coffee but I answered. She said, "HELLO?  Did you take a Benedryl last night or what?"  "I had the baby last night".  I thought she was joking then I looked down at my phone and I had over 17 missed texted messages and over 10 missed calls.  I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I missed it.  I was so mad at myself.

Later that afternoon, my mom, Zachary, and I went up to the hospital to see Mel's baby GIRL!  That's right she has two girls and I will have two boys.  Chandler Mae was here and she is so beautiful! Zachary just loved her.....I think he loved her so much because it wasn't his sibling :)

My mom and I couldn't get enough of Miss Chandler.

Poor Mel...Chandler came so fast that her 2 epidurals and 2 spinals did not work.  Thankfully Chandler came in 2 hours so it was quick.
 Chandler and Will

While we were there Big Sister Charley came in.  Zachary took her a purple gorilla.  Here is C with her Dad and the shirt my mom brought her. Charley was doing so well with her duties as BIG SIS.
To be honest...I'm a little jealous that Melody is all done. She can sleep comfortably and hold her newborn.  However I know it won't be much longer.
